Friday night was the big match up between Griffith Gladiators and Magpies who play at Sherwood. From the bounce at 8:00pm, the magpies got the early jump with 2 consecutive goals. As the Gladiators settled, we responded and went into the 2nd quarter with a 1 or 2 goal lead. Winning every quarter of the match, with the exception of the last, the Gladiators had a great win, and put ourselves around second on the ladder under the undefeated logan.

I played in Centre and the Back Flank with my superstar of a younger brother Ellery. He had another blinder and is shaping up to be a really good player whom could be playing in the state division. I on the other hand, did what I could when the opportunity arose, but my only stuff up was being caught with the ball trying to take on a few their players.

The magpies had 2 players sent off for some rough play and umpire abuse, it was great to see our team be the initiator of intimidation at their home ground. To sing our club song on the their oval in front of their fans was a great feeling.

I didn’t play last week as I had a wedding to film. Coming into this match, I had a slight injury to my knee from training, but I was able to overcome the pain mentally and lasted the whole game without too much discomfort and issues with mobility.

We have a bye this week, so we will be getting into some boxing and skills training.
