Hi, i just read some of these comments, and was kinda interested. I know what you guys mean, when you don’t think that the manners are appreciated any more, and i agree in most cases of females. But it’s not the case with me. If a guy, were to come on a date with me, looking like he’d fallen face first into the washing basket, i wouldn’t be impressed. And then theres some that look in the mirror and see him, him, and no-one else. That type makes me sick, too! All i want is a guy to be NORMAL, which is , have manners, thoughtful, pride in himself, and is considerate. Everyone has faults, i understand that, but not paying for anything, is just plain rude. I find it so hard, as a Christian Chick, to find a guy who wants to go have a great time that dosn’t involve SEX!! Is it just me?? Kate

I once bought a girl a pack of condoms for a gift on our first date. I did intend on pounding the clam. She did not appreciate and left me at the McDonalds restaurant. I had my Big Mac meal and her cheese burger. Since she wasnt there she couldnt pay, and i had spent all my money on the condoms, so i ran.

Seems like the issue might be with girls who want chivalry, but still want independence. Relationships aren’t one-sided… I think that guys need to have their own revolution a la womens’ suffrage. Could it ever happen? Maybe a lot of guys are content with the way things are… if there are no rules, how do we play the game? I personally agree with your standpoint.

Thanks bellainbrisbane, I would have thought girls would have appreciated the finer details of old fashion style romance than the typical general styles eg, walking closest to road when walking, walking a girl to the door, a kiss before departure, old fashioned manners, waiting for the girl to start eating first, letting the girl through the door first etc. I would have thought they were the good things. But, i’m not a girl thanks for your comments, good to hear feedback on this topic

“Old fashion men, with old fashioned values” as if they even exist anymore! Sometimes the old-fashioned stuff is exactly what women would like, but with an infusion of modern day romance where the men respect women’s independance and don’t take it to the extremes of the “old-fashioned” style (eg. holding car doors open, and pulling out chairs). Depending on who does the asking, should inturn be the one who pays for the meal/date. However, it shouldn’t be expected that men will always pay for everything, and the other person, out of politeness, should offer to pay.
