UPDATED: Griffith University Vs Logan Cobras

Tomorrow the match of the AFLQ Division 3 round happens at Griffith University, Nathan Campus.

Logan are sitting at the top of the ladder and Griffith are sitting in 3rd place.

Ellery (my brother) and myself are both in the starting side to take on the top team.

Game starts at 2:00pm – Griffith University, kessels road, Nathan.

Come see a great win by my team!

UPDATE:

Griffith University: 6.12-48
Logan City: 5.10-40

We had a great win over the top team on Saturday. Playing at home, we had a great crowd to cheer us on. Ellery my brother had an awesome game taking some spectacular marks in the forward line. I played in 4 different positions in all 3 lines. After having problems with shin splints all year, I didn’t have too much problem with mobility on Saturday.

We are playing at home under lights on friday night at 7:00pm against Yeronga, it will be another tough tussle as they have just come off beating The Magpies. Come check out some great local footy at Griffith University, Nathan Campus under state of the art lighting. The ground is located on Kessels road at Nathan just near QEII stadium.

Pinata Party Announcements – Registrants only

Announcements here

News:

ATTENDANCE:

As this is a closed door event, only people on the list will be allowed in, please be respectful of this and do not try and bring people on the night. When you arrive you will be required to have a shot of alcohol (unless you are driving). Then you be given a wrist band so that you can enter in and out of the venue.

NO RANDOM GUESTS OR PEOPLE OFF THE STREET ALLOWED IN

Alcohol:

I’ve booked the frozen cocktail slushy machine, there is enough for 220-240 drinks so you’ll have to get to the party on time to take advantage of that. Otherwise there will be wine available as indicated on the invite – Remember this is also a BYO event so feel free to bring your own eskies and drinks (we’ll have as much as we can hold and soft drink for mixers!)

Payment:

Thanks everyone who has paid so far, I still have people unpaid so can you please let me know?

Dress Code:

There have been a few people asking me if you have to dress up as a Pinata, no you don’t . Dress to impress as if you are going to a party. We will have some fun props for people to wear around so look forward to that! arghh matey!

Food:

After speaking with my “committee” Thanks Anna, Leesa, Noni, Bec, Paul and Helen, it seems easier to order pizza and have that as the heavy food and then have spring rolls, chips, biscuits and dip for snacking on. I’ll probably do 2 rounds of ordering.

Entertainment:

Anna Weatherup will do a small set, she’s a close friend of mine so i’m not gonna make her work – she’s supplying the PA and is coming straight from a gig so don’t get too angry if she isn’t in the mood to play more.

Music:

This is the worst thing to organised for a diversed group of people, not EVERYONE is going to be happy ALL OF THE TIME so please be respectful and just enjoy the music as “background” music, i’m sure you’ll be too busy socialising, drinking and hitting pinatas! I’m gonna try and play a fairly broad mix, please do not attempt to change, request or bitch and moan about what is playing – if anything is going to ruin my night it will be this!

Other than that, I can’t wait to catch up with everyone, i’m gonna be stuffing pinatas the next couple of days for the big one

Finally the biggest pinata party ever held in Brisbane is happening!

Pinata Party Brisbane Christian Bowman 2007

Ok it’s that time of year again, and my age increases 1 year but my spirit decreases 10.

As i’ve hired a venue (Ground Level, Substation No4 – Petrie Tce), so that I can have Pinatas and for us to BYO alcohol, there is a cover charge of $20 to cover that which also includes, food, magaritas, dacquiris, ice, equipment hire etc etc…

I need to get a response for numbers before the 15th of june and payment before the 20th of june.

You are more than welcome to bring any friends to the party , however only those registered and paid for will be on the list at the door.

This is strictly a closed door event as we don’t want outsiders making their way in to ruin our fun. So get yourself on the list, just reply to this email to say if you can come and who you will be bringing- i need names so that i can compile the list.

We have a limit of 150 guests so you will have to reply as soon as you can to get on the list!

As mentioned, you can bring your own alcohol, so it’s definately a rare occasion to come out and let loose and break away from your run-of-the-mill night out in Brisbane.

Enjoy live entertainment such as music, nikko tattooing, hoola hooping, staring contests, thumb wrestles, chinese burn championship, mercy, tea towel whipping, pirate dress-ups and much much more.

Of course, the main attraction is the Pinatas, already being hailed by many, as the biggest pinata party ever held in brisbane! There will be a showcase of different pinata designs, filled will lots of surprises!

So for $20 you can get drunk on our cocktails, or your favourite beverages with the funnest people this side of gympie

Email me now and say “Yes, Christian, I want to have fun with you and the showcase of Pinatas!”

Go!

(squiggle)

Christian.

Feel free to call me on my mobile if you need to find out more information.

P.S. Remember to ring up your friends to see if they can make it, then email me with your name and the names of your friends that want to come have fun.

P.P.S. If you have a phobia of Pinatas, let me know I can help you overcome your mental barrier!

A Happy Mother’s day dinner at E’cco bistro in Brisbane

Mothers Day 2007

As I had a wedding to film on Sunday, I didn’t get a chance to catch up with Mum for Mother’s Day. Instead, I took Mum and my youngest sister Amanda (who is a mum-to-be), to E’cco bistro for dinner.

It was an amazing menu they had there, definately one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, if not the best.

For entree’s, Mum and I had soup and we all shared…

Sautéed prawns, celeriac panna cotta, crisp prosciutto, shimeji mushrooms & hazelnuts.

and

soy-braised wagyu beef cheek, thai herbs, crispy shallots & garlic.

Then for our mains we had:

Amanda:
1824 grain-fed sirloin, pomme wellington, sauce soubise& wilted spinach.

Mum:
Margaret river lamb loin, roast jerusalem artichokes, baby carrots & garlic cream.

Me:
Grilled white fish, potato écrasée, watercress, fried white bait, preserved lemon & sauce gribiche.

We didn’t have room for dessert, but next time we know to not get carried away with too many entree’s.

The plates were all presented beautifully and the service and atmosphere is great. I highly recommend E’cco for anyone looking for the highest quality food and service in Brisbane City.

Prices: The entree’s were $21.95 and the Mains were $36.95 – definately worth it if you appreciate fine dining.

Happy Mother’s Day Mum! and you too panda!

An Ethical Fashion Showcase – Jorge, Brisbane

Ethical Fashion Showcase - Brisbane

Last night I was invited to shoot at the Ethical Fashion Showcase at Jorge in Brisbane.

This event was a showcase of some of the hot Australian fashion designers such as Maiocchi, Romance was born, Limedrop, Poke, Mother Mania, Two Beat Tremble, One Colour and more. Demonstrating that making ethical decisions in fashion doesn’t mean you can’t create amazing designs. Organised to provoke the thoughts of consumers, designers and manufacturers alike the idea that using humane methods of production and environmentally responsible products can be quite innovative and stylish.

With Channel 9′s Melissa Downes presenting, this was an event organised by the Queensland Fair Trade Collective as part of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand.

Once again I got to shoot the beautiful Diana (Dee-anna) Rodriguez, whom i’ve worked with quite a few times now. Diana is part of the Viviens Models agency.

How I actually found out this event was from meeting another beautiful girl in Tarquin whom I met at the Southbank markets after she tried to sell me a headband. She sent me the invite and after getting the ok to shoot from Kelly from the Queensland Fair Trade Collective, I was on my way. So once again proving that networking opportunities are everywhere!

I had a quick look at some other designers who are working both ethically and concious of the environment I found this post about Nudie organic denim jeans on the kitmeout.com fashion blog. Check it out, there are some interesting posts and articles on there.

Check out the photos for the Ethical Fashion Showcase

About these photos, I was using my external flash as it was quite dark. Most shots were taken at ISO800 at 1/200sec and f5.6 However that first 5 or so shots taken were taken at f2.5 but my flash position (bounced off the roof) caused unwanted shadow which is why I changed to bouncing the flash off the wall instead.

2 for 1 Bowmans

Ellery and I will be playing our first club match together tonight for Griffith Gladiators in tonights match up against Yeronga at 7:00pm. Ellery hasn’t played club football for about 3 years so I’m sure he’ll be excited about playing tonight.

Mum will be there I’m sure cheering her guts out for us, and it will be great to be out there with Ellery in front of mum.

I pulled up a little bit sore after our battle against Logan City Cobras who demolished us at their home ground.

We had a light training session last night in preparation for the game tonight, so at this stage, my body should be up for the task.

If you are interested in watching us play tonight, it is at 7:00pm under lights at Leyshon Park at Yeronga.
