I have my first club match tomorrow morning against UQ. I’ve been named in the forward line after having an “awe-inspiring” first quarter against UQ in our practice match where I had a field day of having more than one posession and I kicked a goal! haha.

Anyways, jokes aside, I’m looking forward to playing with a “no-holds-barred” attitude in full-contact competition footy. I’ve been training for about 8 weeks so far and my fitness and strength has improved significantly and tomorrow will be a real test of my progress so far.

I will be talking at the press conference at the end of the game where I will respond to our teams performance and I’ll post some of my response here at christianbowman.com

For those of you that want to come cheer your guts out and witness some “champaign footy” that is the AFLQ Division 3 competition, the game details are as follows:

10:00am Start
University of Queensland
Oval 7 - Just near Sir Fred Schonell Drive

P.s. I’ll be the one with the jersey painted on because of my gut didn’t fit in the jersey

Got a scary phone call today from my neighbour (Ash), during lunch about a fire situation down at Wishart (just behind my house). My street was blocked and there were numerous fire, police and council trucks to contain the situation.

By the time I drove from work, most of the flames were down or out and it was just smoke and charcoal remains of some of the bush.

I arrived home to Neo sitting on my front porch waiting patiently for me and covered in ash. I’m glad I leave him out when I’m not home so that he can escape any fire if it happened inside the house.

Anyways, everyone is ok and no houses, as far as I know, were affected.

I heard vicious rumours from Dangerous Dave our groundsman that the fire was deliberate and that it was started in 4 spots by some idiots there were seen fleeing the scene.

Check out the pics, let me know if you have heard anything about how this started on the news.

Neo got a Paralysis Tick for Easter

Neo - Paralysis Tick

Neo has been in hospital all weekend after being poisoned by a Paralysis Tick. I noticed he was a bit funny friday afternoon when he didn’t meow at my return home, nor did he want to go outside, or eat food. I sat with him for about 30mins just seeing what was wrong, I asked him numerous questions, but he wasn’t able to answer them succinctly enough. His breathing pattern was different and it was obvious that something was wrong.

I thought maybe he had reacted to some anti-biotics he was prescribed with earlier during the week for a couple of punture wounds from a fight he was in, I was hoping he would sleep it off. In the morning, his condition got worse and I decided to take him to the Creek Rd Cat hospital (yes a dedicated cat hospital). After a quick inspection, they found a fat tick in the middle of his back. It all made sense. His larynx had been paralysed, his hind legs and his upper respiratory tract all affected by this tick. They put him on a drip and prepared him for some Tick anti-serum.

Neo made a speedy recovery, after seeing him the next day in the visiting room at the hospital, he was up and about and alert like normal. However he still had a gag which meant he couldn’t eat or drink, so he had to stay on a drip.

I picked up Neo early this evening, it was great to hear his loud meowing and see his fiesty demeanor again. Mum helped me pay for his bills today which was lucky as it was bad timing with cashflow. So from Neo and myself, thanks Mum!
