2 for 1 Bowmans

Ellery and I will be playing our first club match together tonight for Griffith Gladiators in tonights match up against Yeronga at 7:00pm. Ellery hasn’t played club football for about 3 years so I’m sure he’ll be excited about playing tonight.

Mum will be there I’m sure cheering her guts out for us, and it will be great to be out there with Ellery in front of mum.

I pulled up a little bit sore after our battle against Logan City Cobras who demolished us at their home ground.

We had a light training session last night in preparation for the game tonight, so at this stage, my body should be up for the task.

If you are interested in watching us play tonight, it is at 7:00pm under lights at Leyshon Park at Yeronga.

Anna Weatherup – CD Launch – Townsville

Anna Weatherup - CD Launch poster

Anna Weatherup, a close friend of mine, is launching her first CD on the 28th of April, in her home town of Townsville.

Anna is a regular at Gloria Jeans coffee on Brunswick street mall in the Valley on Sunday arvos, Cloud 9 Backpackers on wednesday nights and is also a regular at the Valley Markets on some saturdays and the Beach House bar and grill in the Myer Centre in Brisbane City.

Anna has the most amazing voice and is one of the most talented and determined people I know. She will be on the radio in no time and will be an instant hit for lovers of old school Nelly Furtado plus artists like Sarah Blasko, Casey Chambers, Regina (pronounced on the street REG-EYE-NA) Spektor, etc etc…

  • I’m going to do my first podcast interview with Anna during the lead up to her CD Launch. It will be a worldwide exclusive so look forward to that one here at christianbowman.com . Please register on my blog and i’ll send out a notification email for that posting, click on Register under “Meta” on the right hand side- this will also allow you to make comments on my blog posts in the future.

The wonderful poster you see above was designed by Rosana Kersch, and I did the photography for this and for Anna’s CD cover which is being designed as we speak (well as I type). I’m going to post them up on my gallery as soon as my internet gets uncapped- yes we went over our limit, damn you bit torrents.

Let me know what you think of this photo, personally i’m pretty happy with it, it has nice depth and whilst the composition is not overly dynamic, I think it suits the application. What you think?

Press Conference: GU Vs UQ

UPDATED:

Griffith University 6-11-47 Def. University of Qld 5-3-34
Round One Div. 3 – State Association

Injuries: Griffith: Ben (Broken Leg), Sam (Split Webbing)

This is a transcript from today’s press conference after the big match between GU and UQ.

Q: Christian, you had a blistering start to the first quarter with 4 shots at goal, but you only kicked one with 3 behinds, what can you say about those lost opportunities?

A: Due to global warming issues and the new level 5 restrictions, the grass condition was less than ideal. The excess CO2 in the air also affected my breathing pattern during my run up to shoot for goal. I was probably off by about 5 degrees, something I could calibrate for next time with a small shot of oxygen and watering the grass in front of my feet before each shot.

Q: You got into a fight today in the last quarter, it is most uncharacteristic of you, what started it and why did you retaliate?

A: I don’t usually get into fights on field, however on this occasion, I was being held after a brilliant tackle, and after not being awarded the free kick, I was less forgiving of such action. Pushing each others head into the ground isn’t something i’m proud of doing, but we shook hands after the game like sportsmen.

Q: Did you get injured at all today?

A: I have a sore shoulder after lining up a player to tackle them, and we both ran into each other at full speed. He eluded my tackle but I caused him to mis-kick the ball. I also have an unusual swelling on my neck under my chin. I think i may have recieved an elbow or got bitten by a snake out on the field .. i kid i kid (whole conference laughing)

Here is a link to UQ’s write up of the match

Anyways, we play logan city cobras next saturday at home – Griffith University – Nathan campus. Come cheer your guts out.

Fire at Wishart

Fire - Wishart, Brisbane

Fire - Wishart, Brisbane Fire - Wishart, Brisbane

Photos taken at 1:45pm

Got a scary phone call today from my neighbour (Ash), during lunch about a fire situation down at Wishart (just behind my house). My street was blocked and there were numerous fire, police and council trucks to contain the situation.

By the time I drove from work, most of the flames were down or out and it was just smoke and charcoal remains of some of the bush.

I arrived home to Neo sitting on my front porch waiting patiently for me and covered in ash. I’m glad I leave him out when I’m not home so that he can escape any fire if it happened inside the house.

Anyways, everyone is ok and no houses, as far as I know, were affected.

I heard vicious rumours from Dangerous Dave our groundsman that the fire was deliberate and that it was started in 4 spots by some idiots there were seen fleeing the scene.

Check out the pics, let me know if you have heard anything about how this started on the news.

Neo got a Paralysis Tick for Easter

Neo - Paralysis Tick

Neo has been in hospital all weekend after being poisoned by a Paralysis Tick. I noticed he was a bit funny friday afternoon when he didn’t meow at my return home, nor did he want to go outside, or eat food. I sat with him for about 30mins just seeing what was wrong, I asked him numerous questions, but he wasn’t able to answer them succinctly enough. His breathing pattern was different and it was obvious that something was wrong.

I thought maybe he had reacted to some anti-biotics he was prescribed with earlier during the week for a couple of punture wounds from a fight he was in, I was hoping he would sleep it off. In the morning, his condition got worse and I decided to take him to the Creek Rd Cat hospital (yes a dedicated cat hospital). After a quick inspection, they found a fat tick in the middle of his back. It all made sense. His larynx had been paralysed, his hind legs and his upper respiratory tract all affected by this tick. They put him on a drip and prepared him for some Tick anti-serum.

Neo made a speedy recovery, after seeing him the next day in the visiting room at the hospital, he was up and about and alert like normal. However he still had a gag which meant he couldn’t eat or drink, so he had to stay on a drip.

I picked up Neo early this evening, it was great to hear his loud meowing and see his fiesty demeanor again. Mum helped me pay for his bills today which was lucky as it was bad timing with cashflow. So from Neo and myself, thanks Mum!
