Last night, Ellery and I filled in the for mighty 9-a-side aussie rules (fools) footy team the Ducks which also includes the mystical character “Maddog” or Brent as his parents named him. We played the traditional Duck arch-rival which have known to produce a stunning display of football skill and agility. Last night was to be no exception. On more than one occasion, the ball was kicked from one player to another without touching the ground (mark). I think we only lost by about 230 which is amazing in 9-a-side football and I think we squeezed in a couple of goals before the siren sounded… looks like we keep our pants on this time around.

Here is a report about UK companies introducing “Peternity” leave for employees to request time off to take care of sick pets at home. I found this interesting, and I know from working at home, knowing that my pet is ok means I can concentrate on work with less distraction.

It’s been pretty hot the last couple of weeks and I’ve had the benefit of sleeping in air conditioning when things get a bit out of control in terms of the heat. Last night I was sleeping as usual between about midnight and 7am, and my cat Neo slept on the floor next to the bed. After a few hours Neo decided that he wanted some food, so at about 4am, Neo woke me up by kneeding my chest and meowing at my face. Anyways, having done this numerous times before I arose from my bed (which is draped in luxury 1000 thread percale sheets - yes i counted), and walked down the stairs and gave him some food, all of which he ate. Neo really appreciated my endeavours of keeping him alive by feeding him and returned to the room and purred himself to sleep.

In other news, the biggest ever software launch from the biggest software company in the world released the highly anticipated Windows Vista and Office 2007 software packages.

Anyways, you can see the little gathering microsoft had with some people they know via this webcast of the product launch .

I played 9-a-side australian football tonight, after not playing any football for about 5 years! It’s amazing how much time passes so quickly. I filled in tonight for Brent’s (Maddog) team, and we played down at Ashmore on the Gold coast.

I played “aussie rules” for 10 years consecutively from age 8-18. After a year or so off from competition, I returned to play Seniors at Logan Cobras. My first year back was great, played some pretty good footy, but the year after it started to go a bit downhill. I am glad though that Dad got to see me play seniors, its a big step up from playing juniors, and after years of encouragement and coaching, I’m sure he would have been proud.

There is only one thing that I’d love to do in football for me, and that’s play with my brother Ellery. Now Ellery is a bit of a gun, and he’s fairly fit which means that we aren’t in the same league, but I’m gonna try and talk him into playing 9-a-side with me. It’s a bit below his level, but should be fun nonetheless.

Anyways, I’m a bit sore, but it was great getting the blood pumping out on the field again.

The end. or is it?

No it’s not the end, i’m playing again next wednesday. derr…

Rock climbing for dummies

Last night Luke took me indoor rock climbing at west end. I’ve never been before and it was great fun and it was exciting hanging from the top of a wall thinking I was He-Man then realising that I wasn’t then losing grip and hanging on the cable like the dummy I was.

I got a little bit of confidence as I worked my way through this new adventure, I had a go at a purple course which I just scraped in to do, then after mastering the blue course on the straight wall, tried the blue on an angled wall which I failed to complete.

Luke initially invited me after reading one of my blog posts where I had indicated that I wanted to do at least one session of sport a week. I hope he hasn’t started me with a new obsession of interest…

Neo got approved to live at my place today. It is much deserved after a long time of chasing my ankles and marching on my arm to wake me all the time and still not being officially a resident. Neo is my cat btw, and he is quite fluffy. I don’t have a picture ready to post handy but to give you an idea of what he looks like, here is a list of the ingredients of when he was made:

50% grey cat (head & tummy and feet)

20% possum (eyes & nightvision)

20% feather duster (tail)

10% pantaloons (hind legs)
