My favourite Time-out commercial advertisement
This is definitely an ad that I could see myself creating, it’s silly and has animals in it.
AGForce Wool & Leather Fashion Parade - Brisbane Ekka
Some photos taken on the final day of the AGForce Wool & Leather Fashion Parade are now in my photo gallery. I went to get pics of the parade in the Coffee Club pavilion but they were too pompus and didn’t allow me to shoot. I shall not drink coffee at the coffee club for being mean to me. Instead I will drink instant coffee at the wonderful offices at AGForce.. if they have offices, maybe its home made tea in a shed- i’d much prefer that knowing they will let me take a photo.
Yamaha Freestylers & Holden Stormriders at Brisbane Ekka
I’ve updated my gallery with some photos from the Brisbane Ekka. Click here to view my photo gallery. I wish I had a longer lens to capture these guys better, but hey better than using a disposable camera… or is it?
Do not blow the breeze with electricity

I bought a wig for a costume party i’m going to tonight from a cheap chinese shop in The Valley. This is the swing tag with some great english translation for your entertainment.
Ekka Race Day at Eagle Farm Racecourse, Brisbane
I went to the Ekka Race day at Eagle Farm yesterday and decided to take my camera to take some photos of the fun. I came in with a hand full of cards to advertise a little bit but found that wasn’t enough and ran out during the day.
I have now uploaded the photos I took and you can find them in my photo gallery. If you are new to this site, please contact me with comments about my work. Keep in mind that there is 13 pages of photos in that album, click next to cycle through to the next page.
If you wish to download the photo and print them out, right click on the “Download Photo” link under the photo and save it your computer. You may then take this on CD or memory to your local photo lab for reprints.
It was a very bright day which makes it hard for shooting, especially with digital photography. Whilst I did get a few decent shots, if i had an assistant handy with a reflector board it would have been great working with natural light. However I didnt and had to fight the effects of shadow and silhouetting. Excuses excuses…
If you yourself or know anyone that needs digital on-site or studio photography services, please enquire at bowmandigital.com . I’m currently offering $50 portrait photoshoots in my studio at Wishart. This includes 30mins for shooting and 30mins for post-production work. You will recieve a CD of all of the photos taken during the shoot, ready for you to get printed at your favourite photo lab.
There is a limit of 6 people per shoot. Feel free to call me on 07 3122 3763 or 0422 915 688 if you wish to make a booking. Bookings are only available after hours at either 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm or 9:00pm. This is a great opportunity to get professional studio shots before special events such as formals, balls, and fashion events. If you are a looking for family or photos with a partner, model folio photos then this is a great offer. Don’t pay per print like you do at other studios.
Anyways, please feel free to comment on this post by registering on this site and posting a comment. I’d love to hear about your day at the races and about the photos I took. Otherwise just send me comments via my “Contact me” page.
Thanks
New Photos: Brisbane Botanic Gardens
I’ve added a few photos from a shoot at Brisbane Botanic Gardens and dinner at Crystle and Camerons on sunday night. The shots were taken with a Canon EOS 20D and a Canon EF 28-135mm F4.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens.
This is a great lens, the image stabiliser is very good, (which was most handy at 135mm in darker areas hand held). This lens does however suffer from the IS freaking out when used on a tripod, sometimes creates a tiny blur.Remember to turn off the IS on this lens when on a tripod. Some latest generation IS lenses don’t suffer from this problem.
The Canon 28-135 IS USM does create some nice bokeh effects when around 50mm onwards. The aperture seems to be a of a circular shape creating smooth out of focus shapes.
The battery life from the Canon BP511A pack is fantastic, didn’t look like going flat at all from a day of shooting. Shot about 130 odd photos in RAW+JPEG with a 3 sec review.
I haven’t got a vertical grip yet with this camera, after using a Canon D60 in the past with the vertical grip, i think it does help balance the camera with a larger lens especially lenses like the 28-135 which has a diameter of 72mm.
I’m using 1gb Apacer Photo Steno II compact flash cards, cost me a bargin $37 AU each from msy.com.au. Can’t even buy the materials for that price, trust me- i went to spotlight to add up the price for the materials.. you can’t do it.
meow.
